The theme for this mural at Uriel Pharmacy evolved between the founder and pharmacist, Mark McKibben, and artist, Charles Andrade who was commissioned to paint a mural in the largest workroom in the building.
It was Mark’s idea that a big colorful wall would de-stress workers and lift their spirits throughout the day. He did not want just abstract color, but an image that told a story, that brought beauty and meaning to the workerโs daily viewing.
The motif for the mural was celestial in nature, with the earth playing an important role – as the nutrients for healing come from the plant and mineral kingdoms as they align themselves with the more macrocosmic forces of the celestial bodies.
The mural illustrates how Anthroposophic medicine utilizes both the forces of light and the forces of darkness to create the healing remedies it is so universally known for.
The stars represent the cosmic influence on many of Urielโs remedies. The crystals represent the intense mineral components found in the medicines made. The flowers represent the herbal nature of much of Uriel Pharmacyโs products, grown with attention to the moon and stars, planted in rich organic soil with many mineral nutrients to contribute to the potency of each product.
The angelic figure in the center stands for the quiet observance and vigilance of the spiritual world as it directs its awareness to the conscious work being done at Uriel Pharmacy.
